i have just started having problems with this process. When I boot the PC this is running quietly taking up very little memory or cpu share. Suddenly without warning and for no apparent reason it starts to use a substantial amount of memory and cpu usage to the extent that my cpu usage shoots from 10% to 100%. This brings the PC effectively to a grinding halt.

I can suspend runbroker and cpu usage drops back to around 8%. This is simple enough to do but it stops Windows 10 opening any apps. To open apps I need to resume runbroker which sends cpu usage back to 100%.

Clearly runbroker is necessary but can anyone suggest a way to make it behave and take less memory and cpu share?

Thanks.

Thanks wave01

I tried the above and although it did say it had found and fixed corrupt files it has not solved my runbroker problem.

So still looking for a solution.

If nothing else succeeds I am going to do that. But the problem with doing that is if it works I don't know what has been corrected and if it was to happen again I would not know how to correct again. I would feel much happier if I could find the solution for future reference.

Did you do a recent update that may have caused this?

Or

Are there any updates available at the moment?

The PC is set up to do automatic updates so yes there will have been several updates. Going to be very difficult to identify which, if any, caused this problem.

No updates outstanding at present.
