Hi guys, I've got a Nikon SB-900 that's started playing up and has failed recently.

When fired, the flash is very weak and does not contribute to the exposure of the photo. I have tried it on several cameras but the issue remains. When pressing the red button on the flashgun, to fire it manually, the issue remains - it cannot, it seems, fire fully.

I've done a bit of research but a lot of the issues relating to the hot shoe, which I dont think is the issue here as it won't fire properly at all, even when not connected to a camera.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what the cause might be?

I would try to set on manual and full power…
you don't say anything about your settings!

If you think it's faulty take it to a camera shop or send it to fixation for repair/service

Check the SB900 settings start again by pressing the 2 green dot together until reset, press ok button for 1 second for custom setting. In there are options you may need to set up
