Hi all I am after some help/advice/guidance on an issue I have with Canons DPP software....

I can open a picture within DPP, carry out some editing and then appear to Save it correctly. This is where the problems lays. When I view the image through Windows Photo Viewer - or any picture viewer - it shows the pre-edited picture?

I have edited then picked Save As from the drop down menu and selected the original folder and clicked OK when it asked if I wanted to overwrite the original..... but it still shows the pre-edited version when I open it via Windows?

However, when I open up DPP and select the folder/picture, they are there in their edited formats?

What is it that I am doing wrong? Its very frustrating and driving me to distraction!! :bang:

I will be off-line for a few days so I will read the replies - if any - as soon as I can.... :help:

I had this issue as well, I transferred them to Photoshop and then saved them as jpegs. What other software apart from dpp do you have? I think the dpp software basically just saves the changes you have made so you are able to view the edited image in dpp.

What are you opening in Windows a RAW file or a Jpeg?

I don't use DPP often, but I've just had a look and to make a Jpeg, I have to go to File > Convert and save to make a Jpeg.

If I make changes to the RAW file and save, I can see the changes whilst in DPP, but if I try to open the saved RAW file in Adobe Camera Raw, then it looks the same as it did when it came out of the camera.

I click on the 'convert and save' bit, and not the 'save as' bit.......and then it'll show the changes in your pictures folder, or where ever you open them...

Hi and thanks to all for your quick responses

Nick,

I also use Gimp2 its a very good tool to use but i find DPP easier at the moment. I just found out that Gimp2 will save the edited version and is viewable through Windows....

RedHed17 and Lee,

I was editing a JPEG at the time but found the same results with RAW as well. I just opened up an edited picture then clicked `convert and save` and it has now saved in my normal folders! Thank you to all for the very helpful advice.....much appreciated
