Hey there guys and gals,

I am having problems with my PP with colour saturation.

on the screenshot above the left image is on Canon's Digital Photo Professional and the right hand side is after it has been converted to jpeg.

here is an enlarged crop at 100%

it also happens when i use my main program Capture 1.

please someone explain what i have completely failed on.

i am now using a NEC monitor for editing and am starting to take my end pictures more seriously and having them printed A3/A2 size and portrait shots are so much more obviously wrong.

Lemme guess... Original photo in AdobeRGB ?

I'm not familiar with Macs, but what you're looking at there looks like an adobeRGB image viewed as sRGB, or viewed without its colour profile being honoured.

This may be useful to you:

The last time I tried to explain colour profiling to anyone I got flamed out for being a nerd interested in a topic that, apparently, isn't of use to working photographers. Go figure. Anyway the writeup in question is here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/midlandstrobists/discuss/72157606123536621/?search=profile It's been a while since I looked into the subject, though, so I accept no responsibility for any inaccurate information.

If anyone spots any holes, please point them out so I can amend them!

Denyer.

Excellent write up and something that I realy need to look into, as when displayed elsewhere or printed, my pics never look close to how they appear on my screen.
