I had taken some photos from Lightroom in to Elements (edit in elements on the right click) they looked fine but when I saved them , for some unknown reason they washed out to some others who viewed them on flickr
they also viewed washed out in Picasa

To get over this I had to first had to export from Lightroom and save them, then take them in to Elements and they are fine now I think

Any ideas why this should happen from Lightroom to Elements ?

What colour space have you set up for passing to Elements?

What colour space have you set up for Export?

Also what are your colour settings in Elements?

Typically washed out images may be in the AdobeRGB colour space but without any profile information so they are assumed to be sRGB.

In Photoshop Elements, you have options under Edit > Colour Settings such as Optimise for Screen or Optimise for Print.

The description needs reading carefully because these only apply to new images created in Elements or to images that don't have embedded profiles.

When you open a Raw file in the editor, process and return to the main editor window the profile will be determined by what Colour Setting option you chose. If its optimise for screen then it will be sRGB. (Optimise for Print results in AdobeRGB - which IMO is also misleading)

sRGB is a kind of default state for most monitors and images will look ok even if you use a non-colour managed program or browser.

In LR when you pass an image to Elements, what gets sent over depends on the settings in Edit > Preferences > External Editing. Here you set the file type and the colour space that the image will take on. You can choose Prophoto, Adobe or sRGB.

Hope this helps.
