Some may remember that I posted about my own experience of being defrauded out of an inheritance, something which I still believe happened, despite being cajoled into going into arbitration with the other side. I have just come across this article, which I find quite shocking.

Sad to say, this is a long running problem that could be dealt with quite easily by a minor change in the legislation, which successive governments have "not found sufficient time for".

It's horrifying but all the more emphasises the need for making a will in the first place .

And LPA does get advised often too!

LPA's do however have some issues as well as a few on TP can testify. I've not chosen to do an LPA at this stage but it will be an option later at some point. In NI they are called Enduring PA rather than Lasting PA at present.

LPAs replaced EPAs a few years ago and can cover health as well as wealth (in mainland UK, at least!)

Nod's correct - the law in NI hasn't caught up with the rest of the UK in that regard yet.
