Hi,
I have a D200, a set of Yongnuo radio triggers and an Interfit Stellar Xtreme 300......so I am just trying to work out how to fire the flash from the camera and I am struggling. Have the receiver linked to the flash with the sync lead and have the transmitter on the hotshoe on the camera. What setting should I have on the camera? Should the built-in flash be on Manual or Commander mode? I am getting confused :'(
Of course, my brain is probably just not working after excessive eating over Christmas ;) and this is probably a really stupid question but will be grateful for any replies :)
Thanks!
Sandra

Hi Sandra, make sure the transmitter & receiver are on the same chanel, push the test button to check, camera on 'M', shutter set at 1/125 or less ( well it is for me with the D90 ), adjust the light power or distance or apeture to suit your needs. Commander mode is for CLS ( in the manual ). Hope this helps.

Chris.

Was messing about with a similar thing yesterday, make sure you can get the flash in sync with the shutter, else you get dark lines on the image! I found with the Canon that 125 was good, 150 a nono. There is a setting in the custom section for flash sync speed on the Canon, not checked on the Nikon?

I had the Tx on the camera, Rx off to one side, flash on top. (obviously!) Also had a wee optical slave flash on the floor in front of subject pointing upwards, (though I did get two Rx units with my set), but that's not important here. Needless to say, I am just coming to terms with flash lighting - still waiting for the rest of the reflectors/mounts to get here.

Thanks for those tips - I shall try again this morning!

I've not used these triggers, but bear in mind that all the cheapies come with cheap batteries, which don't have a long life and may leak. The transmitter battery soon needs replacing, and don't forget to turn off the receiver or its will, too.

If they're RF-602's - mine came with Duracells
