Just received a security message alert from "Alliance and Leicester" bank, asking me to log in. I don't have an account with them, but thought I'd point this out in case anyone else receives one, from "no-reply@allianceleicester.co.uk".

Needless to say this has been deleted without even opening it..

I believe Alliance and Leicester send emails from name@aandl.co.uk. Not sure though.

i never trust any site money related, even the likes or ebay/paypal

i always open new browsers and go to the site manually as appose to clicking a link which takes out any risk of anything happening

We receive hundreds of these sort of scam emails a week: I just ignore and delete them and move on..........

It's called phishing. There will always be someone out there that will be taken in by these scammers.
None of the banks/building societies send emails to customers requesting you to enter log in details. If Ebay or paypal send emails, they always use your name or sign-on. None of them will ask for sign-on credentials.

One tip is to hover your mouse pointer over any links and this will reveal the actual url that you will be taken to if you click. It will invariably go to a site name that looks nothing like the organisation that the mail is purporting to be from.

Where I used to work there is a team that do nothing else other than watch out for internet fraud. They will go onto phishing sites to check them out. In one case, the scammers were attempting to siphon money out of an account within three minutes of account details being given.

Be vigilant!
