Hello all, This is probably a slightly stupid question but I have interpolated an image using the bicubic interpolation on photoshop but I want to run a test print before ordering a large canvas. However Photobox etc have a size limit and the file is 44mb and won't seem to upload.

Anyone know of any places that dont have such stupid limits on filesize?

Thanks in advance for your help.

44mb is rather a large upload! It would be normal to change it to a smaller file format such as jpg. If you are worried about the loss of quality then use 100% for the jpg save option, it will be so close to the original that you will not see a difference. 44mb is going to take a silly amount of time to actually upload even if they let you.

Yes that is a big upload and that is already in .jpg format. So what can I change when I save it to reduce the file size without reducing quality. 44mb isn't that big. I'm wondering what the heck canon 5D mark ii users do with their larger file sizes?!

What I do for printing proofs is to print a 100% crop of a section of the image and a smaller copy of the actual full image, on the media that the real print will go on (same printer too).

Just had a 1GB file printed, erm, it was a bit bigger than I thought it was going to be, about 12 feet, maybe a bit more - it looked awesome, put together and upscaled in Illustrator aswell !

Not quite the same scale but I had some Photobox A2 posters printed from my Canon 40D (10MP). The file I uploaded was about a 1MB jpg and I was amazed at the print. Perhaps it would have been better with more MB but I doubt it.

What I'm saying is that once on the wall, and particularly if printed on canvas you won't need anything like 44MB.

You have more control of what the file looks like if you upscale it yourself, rather than letting the printer upscale it.

I've had a 30x20 print done by Photobox at their max file size - 10mb I think it is - glossy paper, and the print was perfect.
