Ive just started to print some of my images but I need some help in sizing/framing etc. When I'm exporting images to print I'm confused with how to size them properly. For example I've edited an image in LR cropped it so it looks ok then when I export it to upload to a photo printing company the image doest fit their sizes e.g 10 x 8. What do I need to do crop wise or export so when I upload to printing site it fits the required size.

Hope you guys can help.

A rule of thumb is to resize as appropriate by ratio..

In your example size of 10 x 8 is a ratio of 1.25 : 1

Let the ratio be your guide and as I recall in LR you can either choose 'freehand' resize/crop, or match image ratio or to a another set ratio from the ones available.

If the resize isn't available as a LIghtreoom default, just create a custom one.

But if you image suits a particular ascpect ratio, get it printed with white space aboev/below (or at the sides) and then get a custom mount made, if your chosen printer comapny only prints certain sizes. Just add a suitable border (I use Canvas option in Photoshop for this)

If I am cropping away from the original aspect ratio in Lightroom I usually do it on a virtual copy of the image, after I have finished processing it.
