I love to take photos and then give friends gifts. When I was no longer interested in just giving printed photos I was looking for other opportunities to make gifts from photographs. After a long search I found in the Internet the portrait on the wood surface. At first I thought that the portrait is a handmade and burnt by the professional artists, but then I found a CNC woodburner.

I immediately loved this idea - to photograph people and give them their portraits on the wood. I was digging some money and bought myself a CNC! Here's what I got:

This sounds like a great idea.

Have you tried to apply any varnish on wood after burning?

How difficult is the software and preparation of images?

This looks really good, what a novel.way of presenting images. Roughly, what was the setup cost?

Thats a really cool idea.

Any links to the equipment or where to buy?

Thanks

By the look of the laptop's keyboard, Russia would be a good place to start.

Brilliant stuff....My lad went for a day visit to his new school for next year and he brought home a CNC burnt wood picture, very small as all the class did one but he had a great time doing it and the quality of the end result was very good and accurate I thought, I wonder if a photograph could be burnt onto ply in this way....Now I have a answer - Nice one!

Where did you get this from? Looks a little Heath Robinson but looks like the results are very good - Thanks for posting
