printing companies

Togsprint is excellent quality, used them a few times mainly for large prints (36 x 24inch)

For smaller stuff (typically 18x12 inch Lustre prints) I use DSCL Labs, excellent quality for extremely reasonable prices...think you'll find others on here who have used them too

I'm going to give DSCL a go soon. I checked them out yesterday and looked at the cost of an 18x12" print, because I had just ordered one from elsewhere. I was shocked that I paid 10 times the amount! I can't help but order the same print from DSCL now, just to compare the quality. So I'm hoping the high cost I've paid is justified. It's for a gift so I did want it to be the best possible quality. I don't mind paying more for top quality and service but 10 times the price does seem a bit much. I'm also going to order some smaller prints from DSCL for my own use.

If my experience is anything to go by you'll be disappointed by the other company, I've had about 40 lustre prints so far from DSCL & they've always been top quality, I'm sure the gift will be well received though !!

Oh well, my own fault for rushing it a bit I guess. I did do my research but obviously not enough. I'm looking forward to comparing them though once I get the same print (lustre from both places) from DSCL. It also won't be wasted as it's a nice photo that I could use elsewhere. I'll make a post about the comparison maybe if I think it's worth it at the time. You know how sometimes you can't tell if something is low quality until you see something better? A bit like HD TV compared to a high quality standard TV picture. Or am I just trying to justify throwing my pennies away? :'(

[Edit] I'd just like to add that I've already seen fantastic customer service from this more expensive company even before receiving the print. I'm choosing not to name them at present because of what I've said about the price, as I don't want to put people off a decent company.

Unfortunately you don't always get what you pay for with print companies, Photobox is one increasingly falling into this category...

I've just ordered a 30x20 inch print from them for a customer (so it can be mailed direct) & paid the £9.99 "guaranteed next day special delivery" postage, you guessed it....the print never arrived

Photobox are rapidly becoming a very poor company, it's one that I simply can't recommend....go with DSCL instead !!

I've read many many horror stories about Photobox during my research, so I'd never go to them now. Sorry they've been messing you about too Simon. I would order from DSCL now but I'm waiting for some funds in my account! Then I shall do. :)
