Afternoon all, I've got a HP Photosmart printer and never really used it for photo printing as I always send off for them but I've found some photo paper in a drawer I forgot I had so I wanted so just play about....

I wanted to print a couple of my images borderless on a4 paper but I cant seem to get it to fill the page

Can anyone give me any pointers?

Thanks

I just make sure I crop picture to A4 size then make sure image size is A4 also.
Never had a problem and I have same printer.

To WattieTattie, how do you know you have the same printer when the OP hasn't given the printer model number?

Hi Ben

When you print from Photoshop, make sure you also check the settings in the printer software as it maybe this that is stopping it printing borderless.

A thing to double check, will your printer allow borderless printing - check in your printers settings to see if it will allow borderless (outside of Photoshop - just open up your printer software).

Really? You asked that question?

Ok I have an HP Photosmart printer. They all use the same software. They don't make different software for each individual printer.
Stupidest comment I have ever heard in the history of "Stupidest and Comments" .
This is what I hate about the internet.

Thanks everyone, Next time I had a spare hour to mess about printing ill have a proper look at the printer and Photoshop settings.

I did however resize the image to A4 in PS but then when I clicked print in PS and it opened the dialog box it was suggesting the print area was 29.67cm x 20.99cm and wouldn't let me drag or I couldn't see how to change that

p.s. Come on people lets settle.... In all fairness I'm not sure what chphotos thought we'd gain out of his comment

But A4 is 29.67cm x 20.99cm?

Dear WattieTattie,

Thanks for your very useful advice, very welcome.

Ok I think what we need is your exact steps.

Here is mine.

1. If I need to crop the picture I will set this in the crop size box and crop.
2. If no cropping is needed or once you are happy with the image go to Image >>Image Size and set the Document Size to A4.
3. Your image is now A4.
4. Go to File >> Print then check all the settings are fine. eg, Orientation etc. Paying attention to Scale to Fit media.
5. Click Print and that should be it.

I do that all the time and have never had an issue.
I have noticed that rarely you will get a warning saying that the size exceeds etc but provided you click the scale to media you should have no issues.

I do not use Photoshop, just Elements and Nikon Capture NX2, and I have a Photosmart D6160.
To get a borderless A4 I have to get into the printer setup after I have clicked on Print, I then select the features tab and set the paper to A4 and tick the borderless box. I am using Vista and so the printer setup dialogue box may be different if you have a different OS.

Im running windows 8 and PS CC hopefully ill get time to sit and mess about with printing again soon

It's not something as daft as trying to print landscape orientation on portrait orientated paper and getting it cropped at the sides is it?
