not sure if this is the correct section for this question ..

Can anyone recommend a high quality A3 photo paper for use with my Epson R1800 printer. Something to bring out lots of detail. Also prefer Lustre finish. Mostly wedding/portraits work ..

thanks .. :)

My favorite at the moment is Ilford Gold Fibre silk. But I can recommend Harman Hi Matt FB, and the new Hannemule Photo Rag Baryta. If you want to try something more matt without the coated finish, I LOVE the Innova Cotton Natural.

the fibre based papers are nice but they are also pretty dear compared to standard luster paper like Ilford smooth pearl.

some Hahnemuhle papers are nice others are pretty god awful (fine art pearl is one of them IMHO) and are quite expensive.

papers like the harman FB gloss, innovart fibaprint ultra smooth gloss and the ilford gold fibre silk are still pretty glossy so probably not the surface you are wanting if you'd like a luster finsh. fotospeed make a fibrebased luster paper which is really nice if yu want to go down the FB route.

My own advice would be to get a couple of sample packs from hahnemuhle, innovart, ilford, fotospeed and permajet to try them out. If you have a calumet store near by they should have little folders that show you the finish of the papers.

paper is so very tricky, one batch is great , then................
