I am having difficulties getting my prints to "zing" from my A3 printer. I am using a HP Photosmart Pro B9180, prints are sharp, in B&W I get great results but the colours are dull in anything but direct natural light.

I am using the HP ink which came with the printer (pigment ink) and HP Glossy advanced photo paper & the printer profile for this paper. I have tried using colour management by the software (both Lightroom & CS2) and also printer managed colours, both give similar results.

I suspect it is either a printer profile issue, or a paper/ink combination isue.

Has anyone else had difficulties getting good results from this printer?

Sorry, but no. Mine were fab straight out the box!

I don't use glossy paper though, I use Matt paper from Calumet and ask the printer to handle the colours and it does just fine. I did once have it profiled and the profile was C***!

I did find a slight difference in brightness and turning down the brightness on my monitor was actually the answer. It is profiled for colour management but not brightness and they are usually set a lot higher than they need to be.
