What about using your cell phone to take the photos? I know that you have a great camera, and using a cell phone camera instead of it is a bit degrading, but the Canon Printer APP on my cell phone will print directly to my Canon ix6820 printer. My newest camera is a Canon 77D and it has WIFI capability, so wireless transmission is possible to my laptop, but it takes about 8 precious seconds for each shot to be received from the camera to the laptop via WIFI. It only takes 1-2 seconds by tether cable. Then each photo needs to be selected and then sent to the printer.
I printed a 13 X 19" photo from a cell phone photo that was sent to me by a friend, asking if I could "print it as big as possible." Their cell phone has a 4 megapixel camera. I received the photo from their cell phone into my cell phone and then printed it wirelessly using the Canon cell phone APP to my Canon ix6820 printer. The result was very impressive for where the photo came from. 4 X 6 is easy from a cell phone using this APP and the result is equally impressive. A Selphie Stick with Bluetooth trigger button will let you hold the cell phone much more steady than hand held, and mine will extend 36" for elevated shots. Your best camera for an occasion is not always the big fancy one. For this project, you may need to humble yourself a little. I use what I have, if it will do the job. You will need to manually select each photo taken and then send it to the printer through the APP though.
This is the Selphie Stick that I have. I use it for many things, but have never taken a "Selphie" of myself with it. But it sure has come in handy for situations like this. The Bluetooth trigger button is in the handle and recharges from a USB port via an included wire, so no batteries to buy. Extending the cell phone out to any length and taking photos is easy using this trigger button. Just make certain that Bluetooth is turned on in your cell phone.
