Bought my first prime this week (180mm 2.8)- any advice when working with a prime rather than a zoom - did ok this afternoon but had a bit of a shock when everything got too close at corners !! I guess this is when 2 bodies are needed?

Yeah takes a bit of getting used to, I used my 300mm last weekend. It seems a case of finding your range where your lens is good and use a 2nd body with a shorter range for anything closer.

My next issue is swapping between bodys, not wanting to drop the 300mm to pick up the 70-200, putting the 300 over the shoulder is scary. Do you use straps round your neck for a bit of security?

Nope just balance the 300 on the shoulder, you soon get used to it and the 300 is so strong it can take the odd bump anyway.

Just do what i did and sit on the floor in your room practicing switching, i know its a bitt sad but it helps you find a way that will work for you.

Also make sure the second body on the floor is positioned with the grip facing up so you can grab it quickly and be in the shooting position

:plusone:

is great for capturing the goal mouth action:thumbs:

Hmmm.... I'm off in a couple of hours to do my first ever football match (not something I was ever planning to do) and was convinced I'd be using my 55-300 as I have just the one body....but now I'm not so sure. Perhaps my 18-200??
