Hi, please can someone help me. I'm in the middle of taking out insurance for my equipment and my insurance company have asked for price of my current lenses.
Does anyone know of a website which tells me the value of these.

Easy way is to google each lens (canon 18-55mm IS for example) and click on a few sites to give you a good idea. Depends on whether you get new for old/market price on your policy. Problem is, if you quote top dollar new prices, your premium goes up! Have you had a word with your household insurers? I did and got a great deal with the AA of all people!

Are they asking for the replacement price? i.e. what it would cost to replace then now. That's usually the case, in which case it's the list price if the lens is still available new, or the retail secondhand price if it's no longer available (or the list price of the new equivalent lens).

Check with your insurer exactly what they want. Underquoting may cause you expense if you ever need to claim.

Just picture this scenario - you drop your 300mm f2.8 vI lens in the river. Do you want the insurance company to give you:

The £2500 it originally cost you.
The £3000 it would cost to buy one second-hand
The £5500 it would cost to buy one new
