Presenting images when there's not much space - photobooks?

I have an exhibition & sale coming up in November, and will be sharing a hall with a number of others with the likely result that space will not be too generous for hanging prints. As an alternative that is also tactile, is there value in having photobooks created that can be placed in the punters hands for viewing? Another possibility could be placing prints in transparent sleeves that can be flicked through, - advantage is that they'll be prints that can be sold directly, disadvantage is that it doesn't look & feel so professional. There will be some hanging space, so I can show what prints can look like in that format, but not enough.

Any suggestions?

Prints in clear sleeves can look professonal! The sleeves need to be good regarding clarity though, eg Secol. And the sleeved prints can be held in a clamshell portfolio box, some of which have a nice finish. Hopefully you would hang a few as well?

Look at Silverprint's on-line catalogue.

A large monitor near print size, with a rolling slideshow. If there is a particular shot they like you can display that at the larger size too.

I plan to do that too, but there's something about an image on screen that takes away from the sense of connection and value. Having a print in your hand makes it much more real and less disposable - you can hold it close and study it, feel the weight, think about how it might look hung on a wall. That's what I hope to bring a little of, though if someone sees an image they like on the screen I'll certainly help them get to hold it in their hand. :)

Thanks Rog, I'll check that out.

Hi Toni

IMO, yes hang as many as you feel comfortable with without looking like they are crowded or packed too close together. I have seen in both galleries, fairs et al mounted prints in suitable sleeves in manger type racks for easy browsing and they do look good and were I you I would not be offering just bare prints in sleeves..............any on offer for sale should be mounted (with outer dimensions to match typical off the shelf sized frames to avoid the need for custom frames.

Can you share where and when the event is, as if not too far it might be good to visit and see what it is like???

Best of luck with it and I hope you will find it a successful event :)

PS re bare prints vs mounted ~ bare prints in sleeves even if in portfolio 'books'/folders can be cumbersome and are not obviously "For Sale", mounted prints on the other hand are better protected and more robust plus in the manger display racks can be held and handled with very low risk to them.....and as you infer something tactile helps with the "I want that...." impulse or even considered purchase.

Thanks BB - the event is in Upper heyford Village hall: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...5990fe4084!8m2!3d51.9319788!4d-1.276309?hl=en

Good point about books not being obviously for sale, and also bare vs mounted.

Have realised the date is a Saturday so unless something changes, I work Saturday's, I will not be able to call in but could have made for a good day out.

Just under 4 weeks to go. Has anyone used Kadinsky mounts etc? These look good to me, and the price isn't silly. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Picture-ph...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=65S6N4E1NC4S712S0JFQ

Fwiw I used Picture lizard in the past for bulk purchase and the rate per pce went down the more I bought. The quality of material and cutting & service was very good :)

NB I T hinged my prints and fixed a back board.......and labeled them on the back with details about the print ;)
