Hey Guys,

I have a few images that I would like to have printed to canvas.

However I am not familiar with the Image PP, Resizing and Sharpening for Canvas.

For example:

1. Do I Export image at the size i want printing e.g: 40" x 15" as larger the image the more the quality seem to be lacking. Bit like pixel peeping i Guess.

2. Would image need to be 72DPI or 300DPI ?

3. How sharp would the image need to be? As it seems Canvas is not the sharpest material to print to anyway.

4. I will export the image as SRGB.

Any other tips or info will be greatly appreciated. If it helps i will be Using the OxfordPrintCompany.

The obvious answer would be to ask OxfordPrintCompany

However, as I do canvas prints, I can give you some helpful advice:

  1. Generally, people just supply me the JPG/TIFF that their camera or Photoshop has produced (72dpi).
  2. I then resize the image to the required size and resample the image to 300dpi
  3. Correct - the texture on canvas material will hide a lot of pixellation
  4. sRGB is fine if you have shot your picture this way. Most reputable canvas printers can print using the AdobeRGB space if you've shot your picture that way.
Pixel-peeping is generally negated by viewing distance. You have to stand away from the print to see it at 40" wide :)

Hope this helps,

Stoo

Thanks for that, I did speak with the printer who pretty much said the same.

Depends what software you use.

I use Oxford Image Co, I sharpen in Photoshop, export at 300dpi without resizing and away it goes. EVERY canvas I've had back from them has been nothing short of superb, they'll let you know if there are any issues prior to printing.

I might be a bit late but thanks Dave.
