Hi,

I am preparing some images for print (A3 & A4). In the past I have just exported my TIFF file from Photoshop as a jpeg at 300dpi and they seem to have come out okay (as well as saving the TIFF).

Now that I'm selling a few prints I'd like to spend a bit more time getting the process right so that the images look as good as they should.

So far I am processing my images in Photoshop at the correct pixel size (using the images sizes from DS Colour Labs) at 300dpi.

I then save as a jpeg, which for A3 (for example) gives me a pixel size of 4961 x 3508 at 300dpi. This seems right but the flie sizes are anywhere between 7mb - 11mb.

Surely this is too big a file to send to online processing labs?

Thanks, any pointers would be appreicated.

Michael

I don't use DSCL anymore, but I seem to remember they wanted jpegs saved at quality 10, to reduce the file size.

Hi Michael

No, they seem to accept large files and I send at best quality. I was having a problem once I reached the payment part of uploading the other day and so rang them, I was sending about 250Mb of files and they said this is quite common and a not particularly large upload (took me three attempts and many hours but got there in the end)

Nice one, thanks for that, panic over!
