I am enjoying landscape photography at the moment and am using the kit lens with my Canon 600D, ie the 18-55mm, but was wondering if it would be worth spending the money on a wider angle lens such as the Canon 10-22mm or a similar Sigma/Tamron. Any thoughts appreciated.

you dont have to go wide in landscape, you can go long and narrow too
i think a lot of people thick you have to go wide and thats all you can do

i don't have wide angle (ultra wide) to do my landscape. Maybe the odd situation where i thought if i have a ultra wide angle it would make framing more easier but i could work around that. 17-18mm usually long enough for me.

I realise that in some instances 'long and narrow' can be very effective. I am thinking more of the situations where the subject is closer and the 18mm end of the kit lens does not capture the full picture.

every photography is different. Taking a photo is like creative design, no right or wrong if you need ultra wide and it works then yeah i say go for it, but is not a rule of must.

You could get the same effect of a wide angle by shooting a couple of shots and stitching a panoramic in PS
