Wonder if anyone can recommend where to get a couple of birdboxes from. I'd like to get one or two for my animal-loving girlfriend, and ideally I'd love to be able to install a camera in one of them.

I've had a quick Google, but thought I'd ask if anyone had any recommendations or whether I'm just better off trying to put something together myself.

Thanks!

Any garden centre I'd have thought?

It doesn't help you but I built a few myself. I've had an IR camera in one for 4 years now and each year have been lucky enough to have either Blue or Great Tits rearing young in it.

This year I'll also have a colour camera on the outside of the box so we can watch the parents & first flights :)

Got mine from Wilkinsons for a good price. They should be on the shelves again soon, now that Christmas is out of the way.

Thanks all. I've been having a hunt around and found a couple of good kits - including the one you found Ven, so there's plenty of ideas that are affordable.
I'm hoping to have the webcam hooked up to a PC which will monitor movement and hopefully stream the image online if we have any visitors :)

I reckon you could make a custom unit Mark, based on the link from the Venomator.

Actually, I don't think £70 is bad for a box and an IR camera combined, but you'll get exactly what you want by making your own. :)

Thats what I've done , I use webcamXP to stream the video.

Very geeky but strangely satisfying :help:

Blue Tit I expect ...

We have a roosting pouch in our greenhouse that accommodates a Wren or three all Winter ... :D

:p

Holy Thread Revival Batman :D

I've got a Great Tit Roosting in the birdbox, it looks like a fluffy lollypop when it's a sleep.

If it starts nest building (we've had a nest for 4 years running) I'll post the IP address if anybody is interested :)
