Found these in my father-in-law's huge piles of paper.

Anyone want them for the price of the postage? (probably £7.95).

Interesting to see how photo magazines have changed - especially the covers. Almost all of these have a lady on the front, as opposed to landscapes or wildlife as we generally see today.

Quite shocked last time I looked on a WHS shelf to see how few photography titles there are remaining. I was just starting to enjoy N-Photo and that has now disappeared.

Soon to be followed by WH Smith itself according to reports.
I'm mildly impressed that so many printed magazines have hung on this long, given the rapid spread of the internet. They relied on large turnovers to support the costs involved in running the printing presses.

Back in the day, these magazines were pretty much the only source of info for amateur photographers, I used to read all of them, cover to cover.
And yes, Practical Photography was always pretty much geared towards being a soft porn magazine, and I remember that it always had some very dodgy adverts in the back too.

In the second half of the 1960s that became the norm for all the "amateur" magazines, including the American titles.

Some of the continental magazines, in my recollection, dropped the "soft", at least in comparison to the British titles. You could generally tell when editors and advertising managers were struggling to hit their targets, by the amount of bare skin "exposed" in each issue. ;)

For some of them, Photo could be replaced by Porno.

Back then, some photographers could shoot all evening (on model nights) without changing film... Long before my time!
