anyone been successful in claiming PPI back.. I am thinking of claiming as I have paid it over the years. Is it easy to do? Should I use a company to do it for me? And do they maximise the chances of getting something back? Do I just have the same chance doing it myself? I see companies take between 15 and 35%- which could be quite a bit but it's an all in one solution. Thoughts.

Just phone the bank / card company etc up yourself, tell that you want to look into the PP and they'll check for you - if there is some PPI on your file, they'll send you forms to fill in...simples.

Don't use a firm, they'll take 25-33% of your claim if successful and it's very easy to do yourself...

You'd better be quick, the regulator is about to draw claims to a close.

Moneysavingexpert.com is probably the best place to get the relevant letters.

(BTW... that information has just cost you 20% of whatever you receive )

As above go to your bank, credit card company etc and just ask for the money, you'll get 100% of it with no middlemen

So they dont do anything different to me sending a letter or two?

Nope, you still have to provide them with who you held accounts with, account numbers etc and they input your details into a generic pro-forma.
You can download the letter templates from the net and you do it. If you have the account details to hand if it's 30 minutes work it's a lot!

I'd save the 15% personally

Just use the advice on moneysavingexpert.
I did, did it myself and got £8000 back :)

I hadn't realised how much we had had on loans over the years...

It's a doddle to do, my dad had it on a credit card, all I did was write a letter, with his basic information, no account details and a few weeks later they wrote back confirming the account details and that they would investigate...not long after that they made a offer including the maditory interest at 8%

Just look up the address for complaints for the appropriate bank and write a little to them with your details and why your are making a claim for miss selling, in my dads case it was pretty easy as he had been self employed from the age of 17 so pretty cut and dry miss sell

Between my partner and I we've claimed back over £10000. Just check the lender's website for details on how to make a PPI claim, some can be done online, most require you to fill in a form. It's 20-30 minutes work, that's all.
