Has anybody heard of, or used, the following website:

http://www.onthebusesfanclub.com/

That's the link to the Adobe software page of the site; take a look at the FAQs, it is quite tempting....!

If it looks to good to be true it is probably dodgy. Those prices look dodgy to me.

Please pay attention that this software can't be registered with the manufacturer.

Warning Will Robinson!! Warning!!!

Scammier than a scammy thing

Google OEM Soft Store and you'll get pages of info telling you it's not legit.

Despite the fact that it may well be a dodgy website, so what if you don't/can't register your copy with the software manufacturer? Doesn't stop the software from working, and doesn't alone identify it as a scam.

Oh, and lest the mods decide to ban me, may I point out I'm not trying to pedal dodgy wares on behalf of this company; a pro photographer at a colleague of mine's local camera club recommended it, so I just thought I'd see what other people thought. I have a ligit copy of LR2 anyway, so not really in the market for software at the moment meself. ;)

Back away and run - of course you can always buy it if you want to at your own risk but I wouldn't.

How does it make it any different to a torrent/download then? Apart from the fact your paying for the privilege.... Either way, the software manufacturer doesn't get a penny.

It's not just the software they are selling guys, their 'secure' checkout is not secure at all, just made to look that way. Enter your CC details at your peril.

Goodness! In my position as a fraud investigator, I wasn't suggesting anybody should actually use it; just wondered if anybody had ;)

If you want pirated software, you can get it without paying for it, but handing over credit card details to get it is just plain foolish if you ask me.

Yes, I understand that the OED are adding this to their definition of stupid.

Stupid. Adj. Somebody who gives a criminal access to their credit card information in exchange for malware that will convert their computer into part of a botnet.

Yeah, it's a load of old crap really for people who don't now how to use removed Which I don't either, and nor do any of you fine upstanding law-abiding people! :naughty::lol:

Please keep the rules in mind. No discussion or software piracy sources or using it.

Talking about if a supplier is ok to use is of course fine.

IMHO as photographers we expect people to respect our copyright and I find it sad and sickening that a link to a blatent piracy site is allowed to remain in the opening post.

Why is this thread with an active link still here?

If you look a bit closer, you will see the original poster has already edited the link, unless you are refering to any piracy on the On The Buses fan club page? I can't see any.

Oh the thread was still active as it was a discussion about sites that may confuse some others as they look to offer legit services :)
