Once I've finished the 52 week challenge on here I wish to create a large poster to show them off.

Basically I want something like a 10x6 grid of photos obviously 52 will leave some blanks, then around the outside to create a sort of border effect I want all the weekly challenge words....

What's the easiest way to do this in Photoshop CS3?

Should I reduce the 52 photos down in resolution first to prevent the final image becoming too large?

How do I create a grid so I can have them all exactly the same size and all in exact rows / columns?

How do i do the text around the image?

Any advice gratefullly received...

Use the contact sheet option under automate Don't get misled by the contact sheet name. It basically lays out the images in a grid ( which you specify ) on a sheet who's size you specify.

So you'll need to do a bit of maths to work out what size you'll need. Once done point to the source folder and off it goes. I suspect it will take a while if the images are going to be fairly large. I also expect you'll need to experiment a bit. Check the options near the bottom for "Rotate for best fit " etc. You may not want this. Also it will print all the images the same orientation, irrespective if they are horizontal or vertical images.

Maybe not ideal, but a lot easier than doing it image by image manually

Text may be a bit of a problem depending on how you plan to lay it out. The contact sheet produces images on layers so you could add text on the layer. To be honest a graphics program such as Illustartor may be better suited. Produce the grid. Export as Tiff or jpeg and the use Illustrator to add the text

Or get them printed as a book....which is my intention
