All this talk about post processing got me thinking.

Having never done it before, I first needed a software. A quick search on the net revealed Photoscape to be a reasonable, and free, software. So, I downloaded Photoscape, took one of my developed photos from yesterday, and set about playing with PP for about 10 mins

Here are the 2 photographs - one the result from another.

Oh the joys of the digital age...:lol:

:D dogfish

Radio silence on my first attempt to become a modern 'photographer' ! I am so heart broken.

Come on guys, give me your feedback and help me on my journey to become a master of the photofaff :lol::lol:

Well I can say that I like where you ended up more than where you started. As to how good the processing is really depends on what you were trying to do.

Did you have a vision in mind before you started and is this it?

Well Ujjwal, I'd say you'd made a good start - certainly the edited version is a proper black and white rather than grey and slightly darker grey. It seems that lots of people are scared of getting the black tones in a photo to actually look black. Of course, the problem with pushing the contrast a little higher is that it's pretty unforgiving on any dust/fibres on the neg's so it's always a thorough clean before scanning.

had a very quick look and ran the shot through my normal process and it came out something like this...

obviously, it's exagerated the grain a bit, as it was a pretty low-res source, but I think i'd have been happy enough with how the neg's came out
