Possibly daft question about Adobe CC

Morning,

Was looking at upgrading my LR5 to LR6, but then noticed you need LR CC to use the Lightroom mobile app, plus you don't get any updates aside from ACR which seems a bit mean.

Adobe currently have an offer on for "Photographers CC" (LR & PS) for £86 for a year vs £102 for standalone LR6 (or £65 upgrade I think)

My question is, after that first year - do the CC apps just un-install themselves/stop working, or just stop updating?

I already have PSE11 which I seldom use as LR does most things for me, but the offer price is pretty tempting, not however if it's literally just for a year and then I'd have to keep subscribing at a potentially increasing annual cost.

Well, the price would be expected to increase every few years due to inflation, but with PS CC and LR CC, these programs are as cheap as they ever have been. Adobe want's to retain it's position as the defacto go to tool for professional photographers and creatives. In order to keep it this way, they opened up the market to the entry level segment which would have otherwise had to pirate or just not use the earlier versions of PS because of their price point. The logic being that those who do use the programs professionally are more likely to end up purchasing and using a subscription to more of the creative suite.

Adobe have a vested interest in keeping this entry level as accessible as possible.

Case in point, I went from many years of using photoshop CS and even before when I was a teenager, to my current job where I use many of the CC apps in my job day to day and have a subscription to the complete CC library.

That is to say, don't worry about the price increasing suddenly :)

Thanks for the feedback, but the main question was whether I lose the software if I don't renew the subscription or I just get left on the last version I downloaded but can still use it?

From what other people have posted if you stop paying then you lose some features of LR but it stays on your computer. You can still use the library features and quick develop but lose the main develop module. You can continue to use presets I believe. Will try and find the link and put it up.
