What works best for you? Shape? Size?

Where did you get it?

Rectangular VS octagonal... pros/cons?

ACUAL size doesn't matter at all, but RELATIVE size matters a lot.

For example, a tiny softbox placed very close to an orange will produce wraparound lighting but the same softbox 5 feet away from a group of people won't - it will produce quite hard lighting.

So, the ideal answer is to have a range of different softboxes of various sizes and shapes. But that's an ideal that not everyone can realise, so my advice is to get the largest one you can comfortably manage with (space, cost) and to change its effective size and shape simply by fitting a mask to the front.

To go back to your original question, it's really just personal preference.
