Now that I have the softbox and extra strobe coming from Lencarta I now turn to image retouching.

The shoot on wed eve is of lots of girlies and obviously i want them to look their best. I have been using the PP9 trial for a few weeks and if I am subtle the results are pretty good indeed. As college are throwing masses of briefs at us the time saved should be worth the £40 odd quid spent.

Or would it? again I turn to you guys for input:thumbs:
 
If it was £400, I would say pass and concentrate on your PP skills in whichever software package you currently use. For £40 though, you really can't go wrong. I use it as it is a lot quicker than trying to achieve the same effects manually.

As you have already said, you need to be careful with it, as left to it's own devices it can produce the dreaded palstic skin effect, but used carefully I think it has a place.
 
Derek, do you use it for commercial purposes?
 
I agree with Derek. At the price it is good value for money and is easy to use. BUT you do have to use it manually a lot of the time as otherwise you might end up with something looking as if it came from Madam Tussauds!!
 
I use it and find that:
1. You have to use really subtle adjustments (especially on children) not too get the porcelain doll look.
2. Its great for face on but not so good for 3/4 views
3. Once you have mapped the face its difficult ( I think impossible) to go back and adjust
Having said that its quite impressive in certain usages.
