I have already read the Annabel Williams book of wedding and portrait photography and am now looking for something in a similar field. I'm more interested in the working with people aspect than technical camera details and would like to avoid books with a heavy studio focus, I'm more interested in on-location shoots. Something with a natural light focus would be good too.

Anyone got a good recommendation?

John, unfortunately there's not much that I've found along the lines that you're looking for. That's why I'm in the process of writing one, but it'll be some time still until it's out.

The people aspect is one that's been really overlooked in terms of photography books.

Wow! CJ Im really looking forward to seeing your book when its finished!

In the meantime, Ive just purchased a book on lighting in the hope that it will kickstart my confidence to get my lights out, in the back there's several books listed on portraiture
Here's just two of those books that might be worth checking out on Amazon ...

Posing For Portrait Photography by Jeff Smith.
(head-to-toe guide).

Master Lighting Techniques by Stephen A. Dantzig
(outdoor & location portrait photography).

I cant comment on the quality of the contents of these books as I havent read them myself.

I'll certainly look forward to that book CJ, feel free to send any manuscripts my way for review!;)

And do let us know first if and when you arrange that training session for next year.

I got s book called 'The perfect Portrait Guide' by M Busselle and D Wilson. It's NOT very good. some good pictures but outdated, so one to avoid.
