Hey everyone,
My sisters 18th Birthday is comin up and i thought ide try a bit of portrait photography. I dont have a large budget so my aim is to buy an umbrella, stand, trigger and flash mount for as cheap as possible. Not bothered about the quality as ide probably use it a couple of times and never touch it again. Heres what ive found so far but i need your help to help me reduce the cost further:
Umbrella package:
This is the cheapest i can find, an umbrella, mount and stand for £26 from China. I know you can get an umbrella from dealextreme for £4 so was wondering if i could buy these three item cheaper by buying separately? Its a big ask, but im aiming for under £20 for the three. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Photo-Studio-Light-Stand-Umbrella-Flash-Mount-set-/250732315196?pt=UK_Photography_StudioEquipment_RL&hash=item3a60cf823c
Triggers:
A lot of people on here are using Yongnuo rf-602 as theyre cheap and work very well. The cheapest i can find is £20 but im wondering if i can buy these cheaper or even another brand thatll do the same job? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RF602-RF-602-3-1-Shutter-Release-Nikon-D5000-D90-/220582162610?pt=UK_Photography_DigitalCamAccess_RL&hash=item335bb8b0b2
The flashgun:
Im prepared in spend a little more on a quality i-TTL flashgun as i can see myself using it on my camera often for indoor shots. Cant afford the Nikon SB's so ive been looking at the Nissin di622 (cant afford mk2) as its powerful and reasonably priced. However heres my problem, ive read its not compatible with the rf-602's. Ide buy a Yongnuo yn-467 but according to speedlites.net theyre actually not as powerful as Yongnuo claim them to be and ide like it to be powerful for on camera shooting. What would you guys suggest? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissin-Di622-Speedlite-Flash-Nikon-TTL-Di-622-Nikon-/130408417809?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraFlashUnits_JN&hash=item1e5cf28a11
The shooting environment:
This will be my living room. It has bright white walls and ceiling. Would a shoot through white umbrella be ok? Im not going to get bounce back off the walls am i? or do you think a black covered umbrella would be better? Ill stick with one umbrella for the time being and if i enjoy it, probably invest in another.
My kit:
Nikon D3100 + 18-55mm VR + 35mm 1.8G AF-S + Tripod
Thanks for your help everyone!
