Portra Scanning issue

Knock the exposure up and see if it's in the shadows too

Can't see it in the shadows.

I'm just getting the wife to look at the neg on a light box. I think I can see them there but want to make sure its not my imagination.

eta: yeah I think its on the negative. Any ideas?

It looks like uneven development, but I haven't seen it look exactly like this before. Wondering if the film was pressed together for part of the process? Did you process them yourself?

Nah my local lab does my colour stuff. They've been fine till now.

There are images similar to your's that pop up from a Google search that point to a shutter curtain issue (search for 'streaks on film'). However, these aren't straight lines, so I think that can probably be ruled out.

Anything weird about the film itself? For instance, has it been frozen and defrosted several times? If it's fresh film, I'd say it's either a quality issue with the film (very unlikley) or a processing issue. I'd take it up with the lab and see if they recognise the problem. It's not going to help your photos but they may be able to stop it happening again. You could have been very unlucky and had your roll processed just before they cleaned all the gunk out of the tank and rollers...which they had put off for a month.

Does the RB have curtain? I think your right its either been Kodak or the lab, I'm fairly comfortable where the issue lies of the two. Film is fresh and I don't bother freezing fresh film I only buy in small quantities. A little disappointing but it looks like I'll end up having to send colour away again for developing.

You could try Filmdev, who do 120 C41 for a fiver, and quickly too, with a decent scan (even less for dev-only, but I think there's a fiver minimum charge). Use those plastic mailers and a large letter stamp to keep the Royal Fail costs down...

I think that'll be my next port of call. Down side is that's a pleasant cycle down to the lab.

You have to get the next roll (of the same batch) dev at a different lab for answers and it has to be solved as there is no point using film if you can't trust it.

Possibly squeegee marks?
