Can anyone recommend a reasonably 'portable' set of studio lights that can be set up quickly at home or other locations without too much difficulty?

Looking at various manufacturers and would welcome any help to narrow down a suitable set up mainly for portrait and product work.

Budget wise I have around £500

Portable...

Do you mean battery powered, in which case your budget is too low, or do you mean mains powered but not too heavy, in which case you have a pretty wide choice?

Whatever the answer, the same lights can do both SMALL product and portrait shots but the light shaping tools may be different.

Garry,

I meant Mains powered options (as my budget is too low for battery)

Garry is well placed to advise.

Just a thought on the portable front, if that is a major priority. You can do a heck of a lot with a couple of hot-shoe guns. By far the easiest to use, set up and transport.

:agree: there are loads of flashguns that are cheap and brilliant to use, i have a jessops 360afd flashgun and the only downside is theres no foot for it, but getting the japanese ones from FITP for £40 would be ideal, mixed with a lighting stand and a receiver and you would get a one light set-up for £100 so three lights would be £300 which would be perfect for you.
