Yes
Can anyone say where in London is the housing estate / council flats / concrete monstrosity that seems to be a popular shooting location for films and shows like the Bill.

It's either built in a long straight or on slight curve (I'm looking for it on Google Earth).

It's not a common design and it's probably 60's / 70's architect built and is now probably listed. It has access along the centre behind the next block and the levels get progressively higher upto about four floors.

If I had to guess where it was I'd say around Lewisham area.

If anyone knows what I'm on about I'd love to find it on GE!

Do you mean the one that is sort of layered? with each floor set back from the one below, sort of like a small pyramid type thing? If so then I have seen a few of them around London :(

You might be lucky with something like this imdb it has some location detail in it!

Thats the one, I had no idea there were more than one!

I've looked at IMDB but it's too vague.

And it's not the one from Clockwork Orange, which was in Thamesmead...

Try looking here for some ideas....

Steve

Edit: Is it the "Roundshaw estate" ??

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&h...4282,-0.123602&spn=0.002286,0.006781&t=h&z=18 - That's the block of flats I have seen that look like the one I remember from the Bill.

If thats the one, its about a five minute drive from where I am currently sat at work. I have seen it and yes, it looks like the one I vaguely recall from an episode of the Bill quite a few years ago when they were doing house to house enquiries about a hand found in bin bags, that of course turned out to be med students messing around. Not seen the Bill for years but it would make sense to be in that area as there are several TV/filming companies based in and around Camden

I know the one you mean, it's in the Holloway area (I think it's close to the prison) as I used to work round there but for the life of me I can't remember what it is called - it's 20 years since I've been there.

Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
2months ago they shoot for Wolfman(relase date 09') (stuntman was jumping on roof of my building :) and at the end even from it :D )
and some time back National Treasure 2 :)
and Golden Compass :)
and many many more:)
crew of Spooks was here few times last year

I can't see what I'm looking for in the Holloway area but I have to say the prison there looks pretty swish, like blocks of nice apartments set in inner city parkland!

This is probably odd trying to describe a vague place with vague clues but please keep trying...

You tried using Microsofts Virtual Earth with Bird Eye view, helps spotting places as it isn't just a top down view.

http://local.live.com/ (web version - there is a software version like Google Earth)

Yeah I opened up live earth to check out what Hacker had suggested cos there is a slightly wavy and long looking building right next to the prison, birds eye view confirmed that it wasn't what I was looking for!

I've tried google searches too but I don't even know what to search for. It must be a famous place because it's so unique looking. It could even be a block of flats on it's side!

If u like US series 'Bones' Old royal naval college is the right place for u to be ;> they are there for today and most likely nxt few daysto shoot some scenes ;)

Wow - touchy! It's hardly off topic, he is talking about a shooting location for a TV program, as you are in your OP. ("Popular London filming location? ").

:cuckoo:

Gary.
It's completely off topic, he and you have clearly totally missed the point of my question.
