hi all
I was a film photographer since the 70's learnt alot and did some weddings and commercial work, never quite got into digital and bought she who must be obeyed a sony compact digital which we started to use for holidays and fun. Could not quite commit to spending on good digital kit as it seemed to change at a pace.
Then i got a serious illness, treat myself to a canon 50D to see how I got on and would I pick up where I left off, and I have.
So feel like I am starting from the beginning again as I try to learn good processing technics and understand the wizardry of digital and understand its limitations.
So when I post and look for advice feel free to be honest.

welcome John to the bewidlering world of digital :D

Hi, I've just registered today. Although I have been following these forums for some time using the android app (very good, and much better reading than the Metro).

I've been into photography all my life. I never like to stick to the same camera or equipment for too long and my flickr stream http://www.flickr.com/photos/freekyzoid/ will tell tales of over 11 different digital cameras in the last five years, from compacts to SLR's.

SkiWhiz, I guess you may want to look into "non destructive editing" techniques if you're new to digital photography.

On the software front; Photoshop is almost ubiquitous professionally, but very expensive... so you might want to download the free 30 day demo of Adobe Photoshop elements 9 and play around.

There's also Paint Shop Pro X3 - Has it's benefits, and also available on a demo.

Best o' luck.
