As siad in a million threads before, all this political correctness has gone a bit nuts, I mean; A reccent post of mine including the picture below was added to another forum,

91a87d67.jpg

and today I get a private message saying

"Dear Liberalis,

You may not realize that, but in large parts of the US, the slogan "Once you go black' is considered a racist slogan.
Its the implication that black men or women are more sexy, sensual and thus less than others."

Have I missed something here ? or has the whole world gone friggin mad!

Regards

Kris

Ps: I replied with:

Only if you look at it in such a manner, if a light hearted view was taken, its seen as a play on words to advertise a Mini.

I cannot be held responsable how how the an image or slogan is taken by an individual, and to be honest I'm sick and tired of bullsh*t political correctness, ie: not being allowed to call a blackboard a blackboard, but a chalkboard instead, I mean, how pathetic is that?

Anything an individual does could be taken as racist, and the only thing PC does is segregate further.

I'm not racist, were all the human race, and I have nothing against cats and dogs.

Good answer, couldn't agree more.

The world is going mad and most of it due to a select few individuals on some sort of crusade for the masses that are not interested in the slightest.

That's a good answer Kris, personally if he/they have a problem with it, then its just that...their problem not yours :D

It is getting a bit daft isn't it :(

Well said chaps!!!:thumb:

... and you should point out that in a large part of the UK Americans are considered idiots and should refrain from smearing us with their racist beliefs.

and thus less than others

I don't even understand the argument. :nut:

Good reply though.

That's stereotyping and equally as bad as being over politically correct.

Which is the whole point as it seems he wants to stereotype Americans as not being intelligent enough to cope with Libs use of that phrase.

Most US citizens I've met are stupid (or maybe ignorant would be a better way oif putting it...).
We should also try to remember that Canadians, Mexicans, Puerto-Ricans, Brazilians and all sorts from 'down-south' are also Americans - it's a continent, not a country...

Exactly! Why is one ok and not the other? ANYWAY, I will admit that it's the first thing that popped into my head when I read the caption of your pic yes. Personally I wouldn't make a big deal about it, cause it's not obviously. I just think if your going to use a caption like that than you should realise your gonna get a reaction, which is good innit?

As for Arkady's comment about the whole darn continent being "stupid" I can't believe you said that in a public forum and generalized the whole damn continent like that.

Jewel

He didn't jewel, he seperated 'US citizens' and since that opinion is about those he's met it's valid.

But nationality is no tell tale of stupidity, in my years on the net I've come across some incredibly stupid people, and some very bright people from all around the world, many many of the 'stupid' ones were british.

It's the lazyness that gets me, can't be bothered to find out how to spell a word or check a fact so go with whatever comes into the head.

hmmm, wonder what would have been said by the racists should the mini have been white??

I didn't use that phrase, he did. Oh well, far too confusing now, lol

Well I meant the use of the 'Once you go black' phrase. Which you did use in your image :)

I think this thread is a perfect example of how typed words can be misinterpreted! :D

Everything has to be considered in context - and trying to add the context of rascism to this circumstance I believe to be and attempt to create controversy and prejudice for the sake of creating an argument.

I would have just ignored it - the answer you gave is totally valid - but to be honest I wouldnt have wasted my time.

If these people really believe they are fighting the good fight for those being troden underfoot through prejudice why dont they get of their a**es and do something real, instead of making snide comments in situations that clearly have no relation to their arguement.

You wait. Next it'll be thought-crime!

I do agree though that the whole PC thing has just gone too far.

On a lighter note, I did get chatted up at the weekend by a 'voluminously challenged' lady with line 'Once you go fat.......'
