hey everyone, just got a Polaroid 300 (should be fun!) ... does anyone know of anywhere to buy the packs of film in bulk, or at a good price?

As far as I'm aware there's no such thing as a good price anymore but I believe the Impossible Project is the main resource, there or evil-bay.

thanks Andy :)
with this kind of product, are there copy/fake film packs out there? just thinking if I can buy on evilbay with confidence... wonder if there's anything abroad...

Not sure mate. If you hang on a minute our resident Polaroid expert (Ped) will be along with all the news thats fit to print.

hehe great stuff :)
looks like you can use the equivalent fujifilm product in it too, not just the Polaroid 300 branded packs (which makes sense as it's just a fuji camera underneath)

Reporting for duty!!

I've never had a 300, but yes you're right, Polaroid and Fuji make the packs. Amazon is probably a good bet. You can also get limited edition films with pictures of Disney characters or people like Spongebob Squarepants on the borders I think.

Show us some pictures when you're done!

Cheers

thanks Ped! it was a birthday present, and haven't had a polaroid before so can't wait to have some fun with it! really looking forward to having to think about the pictures, at £1 a time (!), rather than rattling off dozens on the DLSR!

average price for a pack of 10 seems to be about £10... but found these on Amazon, so might buy a couple of packs to start with.

it looks like they'll work?

(edit - they're also the same price on 7dayshop if anyone's interested... and not in a rush to get them :D)

You'll either love or hate it really. The Instax film isn't very forgiving when it comes to exposure latitude and the cameras are so basic that can't handle exposure well so you tend to end up with a lot of over or underexposed shots that are poorly focused. It pretty much harks back to the old cheap low end polaroid 600 film models, if you could buy a model of camera with a decent lens using the film would probably be better. Still better than using Impossible films, at least for the moment anyway.

It's fine for a bit of a laugh but i wouldn't use it for anything else, if you get the instant photography bug like some do then i'd look at getting in to the old Polaroid pack models from the 1960's as even the basic ones out-perform Instax and it's pretty trivial to get them working with modern batteries.

cheers morinaka... i've got D700s for the proper stuff, the Polaroid really will be just for fun and am not expecting perfectly exposed, super sharp images :)
