I was wondering what people's views on using a circular polariser for bird photography? I find that it helps with the reflections on water sometimes but the loss in light really doesn't help in the light

What do other people think about it?

If you're having issues with reflections, then you might as well try it out! Remember you'll lose some light, which may be a problem if you're not using fast lenses and/or light isn't very good, but if you're missing out on shots then you might as well go for it. Having said that, I'd probably try moving to avoid the reflections, but if that's not possible then a polariser might be the only way.

I very rarely use one, I'm normally after all the light I can get in my lens, only time I use them is when I'm abroad somewhere nice and sunny. Try changing angles, shooting low to the water where possible will avoid many reflections
