Yes
When you are using your pocket wizards with your SB-800's what settings to you use on the 800 eg

Manual
AA (Auto Aperture flash)
GN (Distance priority manual flash)
A Non TTL auto flash

Just started playing with my flash/PW and have been using manual as before on my D300 it was all iTTL.

Manual.

If you have more SB-800's and no more PW's to trigger them, you can switch the unit into the Su-4 mode and activate the optical trigger, whenever another flash fires it triggers the unit. Nice.

Ooh, I didn't know that! Once I have my remote firing solution I'll use that to fire a 600 and use the optical trigger thingy to fire the 800.

I suppose I should RTFM. :D

Yes mate! You'll also come across the CLS jobbie too, which sounds awesome, I'd love to try it out but I only have one working 800 at the mo.

CLS?? :suspect::suspect:

Wash your mouth out with soapy water :bang:

and stop reading that Joe McNally book, you're obviously learning bad habits from it ;)

where do you reckon you can get a second hand SB800 anyone? or new. I havent got a flash and cant afford the SB900.. i only have a d80 and one lens, and am not in the least technical? help!

Is the new PW only new feature iTTL and will you guys getting them or sticking with manual.

I've got too much invested in the manual ones and I can't see any benefit in a set of triggers that are brand-specific, so I'll be staying manual.

Even if I shoot in manual with my flashes and PW's I will be investing in the new ones, when CE Nikon versions come out, just to get high speed sync. Got to be worth it for that.

Mart.

Can get real high speed sync already with d40/70/70S - much cheaper than buying the new ttl PWs . The PWs will only allow for FP hi sync, which isn't really the same thing.

Well I dont have a D40/70/70s and FP hi sync works well in CLS but hate the line of sight issues. You pays your money and takes your choice I guess.

Mart.
