I'm a bit worried about my Plustek 7500i scanner. I'm scanning some black and white at (mostly) 2400 dpi, and some scans are taking an incredibly long time... like 10 minutes per pass! Then this last one just raced through in the normal one minute or so per pass.

Has anyone any ideas what may be going wrong? And if there is a problem, any idea where I could get it serviced?

All I can suggest is going to Plustek UK's technical support page (you need to fill in the scanner name, serial number etc):

If you've been using it with Vuescan I imagine they'll immediately fob you off with that its not been used with the 'correct' software, so to get some ammunition against that I would try using the included Silverfast a few times as well to see whether it occurs there as well.

Sounds like a good idea, I've been meaning to re-scan a few frames with Silverfast anyway...

I tried the company I bought it from, but there phone number is no longer operative, not a good sign!

When I had a Plustek I noticed a few times when it would start scanning very slowly. In those instances, I think I usually just cancelled the scan and restarted Vuescan to get things back in order. Sometimes, however, that didn't seem to do the trick and the scanner would continue behaving badly even after restarting. After a bit of experimentation, I found that opening Silverfast and doing a quick preview scan seemed to jumpstart the scanner, allowing me to use Vuescan again without any problems.

Sounds pretty much like my symptoms, I'll try that too! Thanks
