I currently use LR5 and Elements 11. I was thinking of upgrading to Photoshop CS (using the subscription model) but then thought I might be better off just adding some plug-in support to LR. Not sure which but there is Perfect Effects 8, Intensify Pro, Nic Collection and of course Topaz. Does anybody have any views on this - I am something of a newbie to this sort of thing?

Thanks :-)

Hi, I have OnOne suite, NIK collection and Topaz. In that order is how I would grade them.
Suggest you go to each site and download the trial of each that offer one as what may suit me maynot be for you.
As you say or use the word newbie I would not go for the PS CC because it is more than just used for image manipulation and has an overwhelming array of options that may confuse to start with, but that is just my opinion.

Thanks Russ, when I say newbie I mean to the world of plug-ins/filters. I have use Elements for ages an even once had Photoshop 7!

I have messed around with trials and I think my pref leans toward OnOne Perfect Effects. They give a broad range of filters that can easily be customised an it works well with LR. I love the editing tools and the fact that it is a one stop shop, unlike the likes of Topaz.
