Sorry ignore this, this postal scam was relevant 2 years ago, not sure how this has re-surfaced via email again.

Can you circulate this around especially as Christmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize .

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or,

ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk or telephone 0800 500212.

It was indeed last year IIRC, or possibly the year before, as we got one of those sort of cards, but I knew we weren't expecting any parcels, so checked out the company name on the web [can't recall what it was] and could find no evidence of their existence, so binned the card. A couple of weeks later, out for dinner with neighbours and it turned out they had got the same thing a week or so later [they are much more naive and trusting than is good for them], and had called the number - £56 on the phone bill before he hung up. :bonk:

These emails can be a pain in the neck when they keep coming round, BUT they do serve to remind you to be very careful about anything that lands through your door or in your inbox.

What to remember about these things is that (afaik) the most you can be charged per minute for a call to an 09** number is £1.50, anything you get that says differently is rowlocks!
