I bought this flash gun (Cobra - Auto 210) at a local car boot for £2.00 so it could not be turned down as it seems to be in perfect working order. It works with 4 AA batteries. I have not been able to find any Info. on this item please some one HELP!!

I have also read this on a "Yahoo Answers" Forum: You will have to check the specifications on the flash and look for the listed "trigger voltage" If it is higher than 6v, you will risk frying your 400D's electronics ... something not covered by warranty.

The model number, "auto210" is not listed on my data base, but the Auto 250 is and its trigger voltage is 66V which would certainly put your camera at risk.

....any truth to this? I have a D80 if anyone wondered...

The only info I have is:
A Cobra Auto 210 Hot Shoe fitting Flash with Bounce Head, Manual and 2 Stop Auto settings with On/Off Switch, Ready Light and Auto Check Light. It takes 4 'AA' Batteries (not included), is All Working and in Good Condition.

Do you have a multimeter?

if you want to be safe, get one of those little IR flash triggers from ebay, and use the flash off camera, you cna use the D80s built in flash to trgger it, and you shoudl be fine

I'd be careful - according to THIS DATABASE....

There's no info on the Cobra Auto 210, but the Cobra Auto 250 has been measured at 66 volts trigger voltage. Modern cameras are typically much lower - around 6 volts in the case of Canon. I doubt Nikon is much different.

Thanks for your help all!!! I think I'll just dump it and start saving...! Not worth the risk.

If you don't want it Heini then I'll have it off you.

Will get another Cactus flash trigger and can use it off camera for some car photography.

Let me know if you want rid.
