Evening all, I just got my first dslr camera and I'm starting college. I need to get camera insurance. I will be taking photographs mainly outdoors as I prefer landscape photography. Could anyone help please, just need some advice on best place to get insurance from and type of insurance I would need.
Thankyou for you time
Have a nice evening

If you have household contents insurance then you most likely have the cover you need.

^ as above.

Check though that you have full cover for loss (& damage, if needed) while outside the home. If not, it won't cost much to add to a contents policy.

Thankyou for your reply's and help, I will look into household insurance and see what it covers. When I've been searching online there a mixed reviews some people say get camera insurance and others say household. Is there any difference between the both, like going abroad etc ... Sorry to ask something so simple, I don't know much about insurance.

If you want cover for 'simple' perils such as theft then household should be OK. You would probably be wise to call the insurance company, explain what you want cover for, tell them how much the equipment is worth, and ask if your current policy is adequate.

I take my cameras and laptop with me when I'm travelling and they're covered under our household policy. The only changes in the policy were to 'specify' one of the cameras because of its value and to increase the total cover for items away from home to make sure it was sufficient to cover everything we take with us.
