Message to the MUA, Model and hair stylist..

Please choose about 10 images and I will edit them and send them to you in high res. One or two extra isnt a problem.

Model asks for 10, hair, 10. Make up asks for 19 images.

What is the best, kindest way to say that I dont want to waste my time editing extra photos as this was only a TF job?

I know I should have just said, choose 10 but thats my mistake.

You said one or two extra.. politely point out that it would be unfair to double the amount of images they receive.

You said 10, and a couple of extra which is at most 12. Just point out that it would be unfair on the model and hair stylist to provide the make up artist with that many extra and that the time involved is simply too great.

Just pick ten that match up with the other twenty the model and hair have picked, no need for extra editing then. Alternatively, if you were willing to do ten seperate images for each (thirty different images in total) then do the model and hair first and see how many of those can go into the hair stylist's, you might only need to do four or five more for her. The other problem is if the other two find out the hair stylist got more photos than them. Catfight anyone?

As Kev says, depending on the cross-over between the choices, it may only come out to a few extra processing jobs anyway - so - if there's a "pool" of say 20 shots in total - to avoid the catfight at the end of things, burn all 3 of 'em all 20 shots on identical disks, and tell 'em why you've added the extras.

Then next time you say "choose 10 between you any extra is no problem, only £x each" ;)

You could also say '10 is fine...12 is pushing it...but if you do want the 19, you can have the extras an £xx per image.'

Often, when people think things are free, they'll ask for everything, just because it's free, not realising the time you'll have to put into them, and when it becomes chargeable, the attitude suddenly changes to 'oh, I'll just take the 10 free ones then' :)

I agree with Wobbler, good advice. If you have offered a couple more, that is exactly what you have said, no more than 12. Asking for 19 is down right rude and greedy. Why are people so cheeky these days!!!

Send message. "Due to time constraints of editing and processing images, I am unable to send the nineteen prints you request. I have selected ten but if you wish I can send the others at a cost to you of *** per print."
