Hi everyone,

Just a quick query; I want to start playing around a little with using external flashes on my Nikon D300, but sadly the on-board flash got smashed when I was covering the protests in London last year (stupid protest boards!).

I'm shooting with (as mentioned) a D300, and using a fairly average Jessops 360AFDN flashgun, although I want to buy an additional flashgun soon. What's the best way for me to set it up? Cabling wouldn't be a huge issue for me so could I use something like this: http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=111927 ? Or would that not be appropriate.

Thanks for your time!

I have been using 2 yongnuo 460mkII and the rf602 wireless triggers for ages. I have found it to be pretty reliable and have shot all sorts would strongly recommend them as good flash with manual controls for those on a budget!

Same here.

The cable in your link is only two feet in length. So you won't be able to get it very far away from the camera.

Dumb radio triggers like the Yongnuo or Phottix are quite reliable and enable you to get the flash further from you camera.

Will I be able to trigger the existing Jessops slave with the RF602 trigger? Or will I have to just go for two of the yongnuo 460mkII's?

You will be able to trigger the Jessops flash with the RF602. I have the Canon version of the flash and use it with the RF602.

Right, on that set of advice I've now also dived in and ordered a set of the triggers and one yongnuo 460mkII to accompany the Jessops flash. Thanks all, fingers crossed!
