Yes
anyone got any good recommendations of places to shoot in North Yorkshire?

I havent lived up here long from my move from sunny devon and am interested in places of beauty for some landscape and nature photography.

Me and my hubby have just been to northumberland along bambrugh and boulmer way and visited the holy islands, and it was absolutley beautiful, although sadly the sky didn't play and was just very bright and unexciting so i didn't get many shots. so i was wondering if there was anything more locally which i could take a trip out to just by looking at out my weather and checking the weather :D

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

It's been a few years or so since I moved South now :)

There's load of places I would have thought, depends on what your after, plenty of landscape oppertunities, sleepy fishing villages, industry to the North, loads of waterfalls and animals as well. Yorkshire dales to west as well for when you want some dramatic rock stuff.... plenty of ruins to take pictures of as well.. Steam trains and various farming characters too... quite an abundance :)

Might be worth digging out a couple of walking books for inspiration?

I am up North this weekend for a long break to see the rels etc, so I will watch the suggestions for some inspiration myself :)

Nope, there's absolutely nothing worth photographing whatsoever in the whole of Yorkshire. You need to head west over the Pennines and you'll soon find plenty of opportunities. :D:D:D

what isnt to photograph up there you have whitby scarbourugh you have where they make heart beat cant remember you also
have pickering ripon at pickering there is the steam train that runs up to whitby will update more places that are good shortly

Are you familiar with Joe Cornish's work?
He made the move from Devon to North Yorks 15 years ago, and does lots of work in the area.
Only another 20 years or so before he can apply for a Yorkshire passport.....

Is Whitby a good place to go shoot? My better half has to head there next week for work and I am thinking of tagging along to go do some photos, seeing as I am not working and have nothing better to do. I won't have much freedom to go out on my own as I would be following her schedule and route, but I may ask her to just drop me off in Whitby while she does her work stuff. I don't mind a day of walking 10-15 miles if there is stuff within that reach of Whitby. I am tempted to head out there with her for the two days.

I am also in N. Yorkshire but can't recommend too many places myself as we do not have a car for personal use and so we haven't explored the area too much since moving here in Oct, other than York and Knaresborough.

The Dales & the North York Moors should keep you going for a while!

As above have a look at Joe Cornish's website, loads of inspiration on there and lots shot around North Yorkshire (I believe he lives in Northallerton).

to be fair plenty of places to shoot in both.

I keep meaning to pop into K and get a pic of the royalist and the roundhead at the station.

Depends what sort of places you want. Teesside has plenty of urban grunge. The dales have loads of pretty views, there are loads of abbeys/castles, etc.

Say waht sort of thing you are looking for and we can advise.

[stalker]East Ayton actually...[/stalker] I only know that 'cos he mentioned it in his seminar last week.

Get yourself to Goathland, Grosmont and the Esk Valley then to Whitby and along the coast to Sandsend. You could also try Leith & Richmond.

That lot should keep you busy for a week or two.

That shows how much I listen, I was there too and still thought it was Northallerton!!
