Hi guys, I am on a two week residential course in Preston starting next week. After 5pm I am pretty much left to me own devices, apart from watching the Euros I have nothing else to do, so I was thinking about taking my camera and tripod and use the time to take some pictures with my new filters and lens.

Can anybody recommend anywhere close by? I know Keswick in the Lake District is 1 hour and 20 minutes away but was hoping for somewhere a little closer.

Thank you

Mani

Rivington pike is a nice place, along with a bucket load of local walks etc. What type of photography are you into?

Hi Paul, I like taking landscapes, would like to test out my new 10 stop filter and polariser, particularly near a lake. Thanks for your help.

Dave perfect, just what I was looking for. I will draw up a plan for the two weeks. Let's hope the weather is right. Thank you all for taking the time to help.

I like going to Beacon Fell, some nice landscapes to be had around there.
Preston docks at night can be OK, just watch yourself especially in the quieter areas.
I've never had much luck at Brockholes, but thats probably just me.
If you keep to the South Lakes you can get there in about 40mins straight up the M6.

Cheers Nick,

I'm in Hutton now, without any Internet for 2 weeks so using my iPhone where I can. I'm free in the evenings, so will try and visit most places.

Thanks all for the advice, did not have my camera with me this week, but will do next week. Seen some beautiful places up North, very nice part of England, lovely little villages, such as Giggleswick, Downham and Devils Bridge.
